Payroll RTI will be introduced from April 2013 - are you ready for the changes to payroll legislation?

RTI is the biggest change to the PAYE (Pay as You Earn) system since its inception in 1944 and from April 2013 changes the way employers report information to HMRC. 

From April 2013, employers will be legally required to report PAYE in real time. This means that information about all PAYE payments need to be submitted to HMRC online each time a payment is made as part of the payroll process, rather than at the end as they are now.

HMRC hopes that RTI will help them to operate more efficiently and accurately, and know exactly how much an employer owes for each pay run.  You will be contacted by HMRC as early as March 2013 to start running RTI from April 2013.  Some companies may not have to start until October 2013, but you should be prepared to start from April 2013. 

If you have Sage Payroll and a valid Sage Cover contract then your software is RTI ready.
